I’m Engaged! NOW WHAT?!

2021 was easily one of the best years of my life! A trip that started out as our first time ever traveling away for a week just him and I, ended with a PROPOSAL! I am still reliving the day nearly seven months later. Somebody pinch me.

Things got a little overwhelming very quickly. All in the best ways you could imagine, but being first timers over here, where do we start?

Honestly, god bless my type-A personality - with a couple Google Spreadsheets, Pinterest boards for inspiration, and the excitement of having a ring on my finger (!!) my fiance, Mike and I were able to scope out, tour, and book a venue in less than four weeks. Go team!!

Our venue has more of a DIY feel to it; meaning the owners reserved the day for us to have our ceremony and reception there, but as far as everything else goes, it is up to the bride and groom to reach out to vendors and figure it out. Mike and I actually LOVE it this way. Early on from our venue search, we felt sort of put off by settings that do it all for you. Don’t get me wrong, now that we are less than a year away, I often think how easy it would be if we had chosen to have others navigate through the fine details for us. But no worries! These are memories in the making.

FAST FORWARD TO NOW.

With less than 10 months out, we are still very much cool, calm and collected, but is this normal?!

Some days I go through the thoughts of, “Okay, you have your venue, your caterer, your florists, your DJ, your photographer, your videographer, and your hair/makeup all squared away, what is there left to do?” but immediately following I have been having SO many conflicting emotions about the other stuff I have yet to dive head first into. We’re talking the centerpieces, the favors, the programs, the shoes, the accessories and so on, and it’s alot! The ‘stuff’ that shouldn’t take precedence in my head is now taking place as top priority. The struggle is real.

With the excitement we have, and the adrenaline we carry knowing this is OUR YEAR (eep!) I am hopeful it will guide us through making sure all the loose ends are tied before wedding day. Follow along as we explore our DIY creative side and count down with us till we meet at the altar on November 4th!

See you all there.

xo,

Ashley
